today of 2013.

14 sep, if i was in singapore. i would have been able to spent it with some very special people back at hc celebrating maf.

but 14 sep because i'm in france. i spent it on a day trip to vernon and giverny. spent it with friends that are easy to get along with. unpretentious, kind and simple people. despite the weather being kind of wet and cold. we had a really good time out there. so we caught the morning train to vernon. after getting there we checking out the morning market which was really quite big. we bought roast chicken legs to add to our brunch and were given free potatoes. after feeling done at the market we headed back to the train station where the bus to giverny would be. while waiting for the bus, we grabbed our brunch of chicken meat, potatoes and bread.

at giverny, we checked out monet's garden which is really really pretty! (mummy please come next spring so i can bring you there!) i was so thankful being able to see views that would only usually be found on paintings or photos or tv. the place was breath taking there were all kinds of flowers and were planted according to the same colours or like matching colours. then we checked out his mansion too. the view that he had from is bedroom is just, wow. haha.

following that we went to this cute shop cause we thought that it was a museum at first. hahaha. so after that detour, we headed to the impressionist museum. the museum is quite cool as it had works from japanese artists too. since monet, the guy that started the impressionist art was influenced by the japanese culture/art. so yup there were some works in there that i like.

the most unexpected takeaway from today was getting kissed by 2 french little boys! :D hahaha. they were superbly cute and shy. so when we exited from the museum it was like 4 or almost there already. and we were hungry. so we decided to finally have my chocolate tart that i made yesterday and brought for today's trip! we had it within the museum's compounds on the bench that's near the exit. and there was a young french family there. when i was cutting up my tart, it caught the older boy's attention and he came nearer to us. i was back facing the family then so i didn't have a good idea of what was going on. but anyway my friends were being very welcoming and told me that he can have one! so i just cut the tart into 8 and there were 6 of us, we each had one and there were extras so the boy took 1 too. he was really happy after getting it. then the mum thanked us and we made small chat. there was 1 left and we were totally like telling the younger boy to take it but he was kinda grumpy and was just saying no to everything. after that, they walked away from us but like 10 steps away only. and they split the tart into 2. so each boy could have their share. and they got really smiley after having tried the tarts. THEN! the old boy actually came back in our direction. then he came near to me. for some reason i decided to lower myself then he levelled himself higher and kiss me on the cheek out of the blue! he was so shy after doing that. OMG. his expression was so cute! then the younger one came and kissed me too!!! hahaha. with his mouth still full of the chocolatey marks. and i asked him it is good and he said yes. ahhhh they were so cute! haha the other 5 got kissed by the older boy after that too. and they thanked us nicely! whee. cute french boys. HAHAHAHAHA.

after that we just did some walking around. initially we wanted to check out another museum but on our way there the weather got worse so we decided not to risk things. we did stop by the graveyard which i must say didn't have a too eerie feel. and monet plus his family is actually laid to rest there. we then decided to return back to vernon. when we got back we realised that there was a train returning back to paris soon so we made the decision to take the risk and return earlier and have a dinner more to our preference.

back in paris. we got on to the metro to get to the street filled with shops selling ramen. (because of influence from the japanese art from the day, we settled for japanese dinner.) BUT. the metro line we chose to get to the street had some issue. but it was a really wet day for paris too, so apparently the major interchanging station was flooded or basically some accident took place so our line was affected. the first time we tried to get to our destination, it cheated us. we only got a stop away from where we boarded and the metro actually went backwards. so after that we got of from where we boarded and where thinking of other solutions already. but then another metro came and it seemed to be working again. so we gave it another try. this time when we had moved for a stop, we started crossing fingers and like praying that it was continue moving. cause it just needed to move 1 more stop and we would reach our destination. when it did we were so happy. and when it stop and the doors opened, we were even happier. HAHAHA.

dinner was great. great company and so-so food. haha. cause the ramen wasn't that fantastic, but their set (that had ramen-fried rice-gyoza or ramen-curry cutlet rice) was great. since it came with other things. anyway it was just very warm homely and filling. (: so all in all it was a perfect day!

while i definitely miss the company back at maf. thank you so much for the photos and videos and remembering me. i'm also really thankful for today's company. otherwise i might have had a quite sad day, given the terrible weather and feeling homesick.
