steamboat. i wanted to post on this.

well just want to say. i had 4 very special steamboats in the duration of a year. from the last few days of 2011 to 2 weeks ago.

the first, from the last few days of 2011, was shared with titans during the chalet. where derrick, zhihao, myself and june was it? went to get the ingredients and derrick brought the hotpot from home and everyone contributed to the prep and cleaning up! haha. it was a mess but tons of fun. actually i can't remember if there was 1 or 2 hotpot. haha. we had lots of veggies and people needing to keep eating cause there was like too much food. and the room became really hot. haha. plus moving around was very difficult cause of the wires too.

the second was with mr tan, amelia and emily, sometime during the 15days of cny. i had actually seen amelia from helping out at grace orchard, but haha she didn't really remember me. while i was introduced to emily that day! it was odd, cause i was the only kid there and haha it was an impromptu dinner for me with them. i went to windsurf that day and mr tan was there. (can't remember if we went together or we happened to meet or arranged to meet :P) then he asked if i want to eat steamboat. so off we went and i met up with the 2 other ladies and we had a meal. it was a really nice one of course. at tiong bahru there. i found the steamboat to be very different from all the ones i've had in the past. maybe cause it was at a shop, then you had to order what you want and the variety was just so much. haha. plus we had 2 different soup base. one was spicy sichuan while the other was chicken ginseng i think.
following the dinner we also went orange thimble, led by emily which has a great ambience! though i'm much younger than them, i had a great time that day and conversation wasn't an issue. :D

the third was in july. a steamboat dinner with kins from mummy's side at the east of singapore. mummy MIA that day cause she was really sick. ):
thanks to my previous experience, having steamboat outside that time wasn't that new. but haha still felt pretty noob, was awed by my cousins that were doing the ordering. it was a really fun dinner. cause there was so many of us. we just eat eat eat. food was good. atmosphere was great. lots of laughters in the air. we also celebrated mama's birthday that day! (:

the last was 2 weeks ago at AGT. christmas dinner at work. i grabbed a number of ingredients with A from mediya. then prep was done by J, A, H and myself. M was late. haha. so we started without him. A was really hungry that day. we had too much food. but it was fun. having dinner altogether for the first time. with partners at work. we even had dessert cause J really wanted to try the blueberries victoria sponge and A bought ice cream earlier. j who had returned from london that day came as well but she didn't join us from the start of course. i learnt to appreciate chilli padi in soy sauce with chopped garlic and spring onion that day!

while steamboat prep can be a lot of work and simply having it outside is much easily, but to me having it out or not isn't as important as the company it is shared with. steamboat is really meant to be eaten with company. it makes the food a notch more delicious! :D thanks everyone that had those steamboats with me.
