its been a long time since i've blogged properly i think. (well haha i'm hoping this will be a detailed review. but we shall see yeah. HAHAHA no promises)
so. what's going on for me now.
- 2 weeks of front desk internship left.
- 5 weeks of school left.
- 5+ more weeks still i get to fly back to sg.
- 6 more weeks till i start my new internship in the finance department of a hotel with 750 over rooms. (it will be from may to august)
- i will also be going to bordeaux in the last week of march for my masters application interview.
- waiting to know if i'll be given an interview opportunity for my 2nd masters application.
the past 2/3 weeks has been rather unpleasant due to the people i had to deal with yet they are group mates with completely different values in life and towards their work. so. it has been HORRIBLE. thankfully. its done for now. am just hoping that there won't be many more group works coming up. the worst part is when you want to do well, and your group mates can't be bothered. then the prof awards 1 grade to the whole group. aka. your results get sabotage by the half-hearted attitude of your group mates.
oh yes. back to the title. at the start of the week, i started feeling the onset of sore throat hitting me. then it was running nose and cough that made their appearances. I HATE FALLING SICK. cause i can't eat whatever is the most convenient and that i feel like. cause sometimes i just have urges for crunchy food. aka they are fried/toasted/baked.
hopefully the trip back to sg will provide me a more effective solution.
thankfully, after some discipline to NOT anyhow eat, the cold symptoms seem to be wearing off. soooo let's hope it'll be gone in these 2 days.
regarding my internship. its actually quite interesting how it came about too. initially i was going to go a 5* luxury hotel to do night audit already. and i got the confirmation really fast after the interview, because i was probably the one weirdo that thought it will be a really good learning opportunity.
then while waiting for the hr assistant to be back from her break and finish up my contract so it can be signed. I got an email from the hotel I will be going to in May, asking if i'm still looking for an internship.
at that point in time I had decided that I want to do more interviews since I have something confirmed already. having more interview experiences wouldn't hurt. and it will be interesting to know eventually if my cv appeals to recruiters and businesses or not.
so the message in the email asked me to call her at an assigned time if i am still interested. so i called, not considering that it will be a telephone interview but only thinking that it will be a quick conversation to arrange for a face-to-face interview session.
thus, as mentioned above, the call quickly unrolled into a telephone interview session. and i was really surprised by the director of finance because she mentioned like 3 times during the conversation how she really likes my profile. also, when she heard that i already have an offer for the night audit position with another hotel, she outrightly told me, don't go there, they aren't good. join her, their team is better. haha. and she was so contented that at the end she promised me that she will get her hr recruiter to create an offer for my to submit my application formally.
through our month long of to and fro (talk about big corpos with long processes huh), she has been very efficient at replying to her emails, i am anticipating how it will be like to learn under her, probably no direct learning opportunities, but still within her team, should be a rewarding experience.
hopefully i will be able to improve myself and prove my worth. such that next year if i want to look for a summer contract job, they will be willing to offer me a position! :D
fyi, the outcome of my interviewing experience. quite decent i guess. so in total i went for 5 accountancy-finance interviews of which i got 3 positive offers and 2 negative replies. 2- because they really wanted someone that will be able to work for 6 months and i am only available for 4 months. not too bad huh. :D also 1 positive for the night audit position since i was probably the only applicant.
it has been fun. (: and haha self-assuring to know that my profile and the impression i leave others are positive.
hopefully the luck will extend to my masters applications! i really hope to get into the program that i will need to go bordeaux for an interview. its only supply chain management. sounds bizarre to you if you know what i have been doing. like what you're going to change pathway AGAIN?
well. but i think its really interesting to learn this because if i can acquire the critical thinking and important takeaways of the program, i'll be in a operation position where i get to see > understand > tackle > resolve problems! furthermore, cause its operational, normally i'll have to travel all over! :D so yep. think the challenge is there but to have the autonomy and chance to solve tough issues i think is very rewarding too. fingers crossed!
also if haha i can go do the program, i'll get to save money in my 2nd year of the program since i can go stay with my uncle. x)
